What Is A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)?
A vehicle identification number, or VIN, is the identifying code for a specific car. The VIN number is unique for each car, much like a fingerprint. VIN plates, also known as chassis numbers, are code plates for specific vehicles and are required for all over-the-road vehicles. These plates are commonly used on trailers, buses, tractors, and bicycles. VIN plates can be found on other equipment, including floor jacks, coke machines, fork lifts, machine plates, and anything else that is being restored.
What Is A Hull Identification Number (HIN)?
A hull identification number, or HIN, is the unique serial number assigned to a boat. HIN plates are a federal requirement used to identify boat manufacturers defects and/or any recalls. These plates are frequently referred to as Hull ID plates. Capacity plates might also be required, which show weight, horse power, number of persons per boat size, etc.
Different states have different requirements, so please check with your local (DNR) (States) (U.S. Coast Guard) offices.

Replacement Tag Order Process
- View our VIN Tags, VIN Plates, VIN Stickers and HIN Plates below to select the data tag that will work for your application. You may also send us a copy of a data tag to replicate.
- After you have selected the data plate, we will send you a quote based on that information with a delivery time.
- If we are approved to make your data plate, we will send you a proof to review and approve prior to producing the plate.
Note that we do not do any stamping or embossing, only permanent printed copy. If you require stamping or embossing, we can provide a "generic" printed template and you can have the changeable information stamped yourself, or we can print the changeable information in the open fields with your unique information permanently.
